Why study abroad

You can afford the fees, you have the grades and you want to be a little bit different from all the other graduates on the job market - what next? The Student World Fair is the perfect opportunity to find out just how studying overseas can help you achieve all those things.

You can meet different universities from around the world who offer bachelors degrees taught in English; find out how to gain invaluable life skills by living in another country for three years; and get an internationally accredited degree that will help your future career. Plus it won't be as easy for the parents to make that surprise visit!

We've listed a few things that we think are most beneficial about overseas student life:

Languages

Living in the country where a language is spoken is by far the best way to learn. All of the exhibitors at the fair have their degrees taught in English but some of your classmates will be from the country your studying in (or even further a field) – so take advantage and start learning a new language!

Developing you!

Taking the brave step and committing to studying abroad is huge. When you actually leave home and step on the plane (or ferry) it's going to be scary but very exciting! But by living in another country you will develop your interpersonal and communication skills!

Travel

We all know what it's like as soon as you finish Sixth Form/College you want to take a year out and travel! Well why not combine the two and study abroad – take advantage of the sights at the weekends and travel across your new home from home in the summer holidays.

Costs

The cost of higher education in the UK is increasing dramatically. From 2012, tuition fees in the UK will cost on average £8,750 per year. It's not all about the money; some of you may be able to afford the tuition fees and that's why we have a range of universities attending who charge anything from £zero to £30,000 per year.

Lifestyle

Living in another country can be one of the best experiences of your life. It gives you the opportunity to experience so much more than you can during a holiday and by studying or working there, you get the chance to experience the real way of life. If you are considering taking a gap year – why not incorporate your studies with travel and have the best of both worlds!

Still not convinced?

Well you have to come to the fair – meet the international officers from all the universities exhibiting and you'll soon find out that they are really friendly people and would love for you to study with them. Worried about going it alone? Bring your friends with you – the more the merrier and also start conversations in our chat forum and find out who is thinking about the same uni as you (you'll make friends even before you get there!)
